Members Delegation to Mexico City
The Global Interdependence Center invites you to save the date for our upcoming delegation to Mexico City. GIC is preparing a three-night, two-day delegation program that includes meetings with central banking, government and business leaders as well as dining and cultural events. The itinerary will include a full day public conference with Banco de México on February 27, 2020 and meetings with local government and business leaders on February 28, 2020. Featuring speakers Charles Evans, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and Alejandro Díaz de León, Governor of the Banco de Mexico. Our program will allow opportunity for both local and foreign insights, covering a broad range of topics related to U.S. and Mexico.
This exclusive event will be limited to only 15 spaces. Registration will close on Wednesday, February 5. The registration rate of $2,500 includes*:
- Access to GIC’s meetings with Banco de México, the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (Mexican Stock Exchange), and additional meetings with other industry leaders and policymakers to be announced.
- Three nights stay at the Hyatt Regency Mexico City in a Guestroom overlooking the great Chapultepec Park with breakfast included.

President of the Federal Reserve Bank of ChicagoCharles L. Evans is the ninth president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. In that capacity, he serves on the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the Federal Reserve System's monetary policymaking body.
Alejandro Díaz de León
Governor, Bank of MexicoAlejandro Díaz de León-Carrillo is an economist, he began his career at Banco de México in 1991, where he held different positions, including Macroeconomic Analysis director, and Economic Studies director.
Manuel Balmaseda
Chief Economist, CEMEXManuel Balmaseda is the Chief Economist at CEMEX, a leading global building materials corporation. Previously he served as Chief Economist for Spain and Europe at BBVA, Chief Economist for Capital Markets at BBV, professor of economics at CEMFI and visiting researcher at the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis.
Daniel Chiquiar
General Director of Economic Research, Banco de MéxicoDaniel Chiquiar is currently the General Director of Economic Research at Banco de México. As Chief Economist of the Central Bank, he is the Chief Economic Adviser to the Board of Governors. Among other responsibilities, he directs the Economic Research Division of the Central Bank, providing intellectual leadership and direction to the efforts aimed at contributing to the understanding of policy recommendations on current economic events and diverse issues such as growth, inflation, international trade, labor market, and monetary policy.

He received his B.S. in economics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and did his graduate work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
