GIC Presents Martin Feldstein with the Frederick Heldring Award for Global Leadership
On December 18th The Global Interdependence Center presented Martin Feldstein with the Frederick Heldring Award for Global Leadership. Martin Feldstein is the is the George F. Baker Professor of Economics at Harvard University and President Emeritus of the National Bureau of Economic Research. In addition to serving as President and CEO of the NBER, throughout his prestigious career, Dr. Feldstein has been Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, President Reagan’s Chief Economic Advisers, and President of the American Economic Association.
Global Interdependence Center presents the Frederick Heldring Award to individuals who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to the development of international relations, trade, and global citizenship in their lifetimes. In 1976, Frederick Heldring founded the Global Interdependence Center (GIC), serving as Chair until 2000. The Global Interdependence Center encourages the expansion of global dialogue and free trade to improve cooperation and understanding with the goal of reducing international conflicts and improving worldwide living standards.
Before the award was presented, Dr. Feldstein offered comments on the current financial crisis entitled “How Will it End?”
